Curriculum

The ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) is a two-year training programme, the first of which is school-based. The criteria for progression to the 2nd year specialized training and work-based attachment is at least 90% attendance rate and a 60% and above combined aggregate score for the core components.

Food Preparation

Trainees learn to prepare ingredients for cooking and to assist the chef in the cooking, garnishing and dishing of food items according to the requirements of the menu, recipes and guests.

Food & Beverage Service

Trainees will develop basic skills that will prepare them to be an F&B Server.  They will learn how to perform pre-service activities, lay the dining table, take and serve food and beverage orders, clear finished courses and tables and set up function rooms.

Housekeeping Operations

Trainees are taught skills that include cleaning guest rooms, replenishing room supplies, handling enquiries and other related housekeeping duties.

Second Year Programmes

In the second year, trainees will be selected according to their strengths and abilities for work-based training either in Food Preparation, Food and Beverage Service or Housekeeping Operations (Accommodation). It comprises of :

  • Academic Education (English and Mathematics)
  • In-House Training (January to April)
  • On-the-Job Training (May to November)
  • Job & Career Guidance (Once a week every Thursday at MVS)

Trainees in both levels must undergo at least 1.5 hours of Co-Curricular activity a week. At the end of the 2 year training, they will receive the ITE Skills Certificate awarded by the Institute of Technical Education.

School Hours

School begins at 8:00 am with flag raising ceremony and announcements.  Depending on the class schedules, school ends between 4:00 to 5:00 pm. Regular recess time is from 9:30 am to 10:00 am unless otherwise specified on the class schedule.  Lunch time is scheduled from 1:00 to 2:00 pm
